subalterns strike back

Three British tourists mocked a 76-year-old rickshaw driver because he couldn't pedal fast enough and posted a video of the panting old man on YouTube. The trio ran off without paying the £5 fare and escaped in a taxi yelling “ten dollars my f***ing arse!”. Angered by the way the Brits treated the rickshaw driver, Sinagporeans bombarded the media expressing their feelings. “Don't come back to Singapore,” wrote one. “We will be waiting for you.” While another berated them for behaving like Singapore was still a British colony. The guilty party said he was sorry to cause so much offence to Singaporeans and posted an apology online & removed the video.....



.... but it was put back on by an angry Singaporean under the heading 'UK BASTARDS'; taken off the Daily Mail. its shocking these Brits are ignoramuses to the fact that people see wat you post on the world wide web!! *duh!* but its equally sad how singaporean always rule badly behaved 'ang mohs' as an inevitable result of post-colonialism. i dunt see an attack on national identity but rather an insulting denigration of the old & weak. as a traveller... i understand the frustration of paying cut-throat prices. but a seasoned travellor always haggles first... not later!! heart wrenching to see the old man subserviently ask for payment from those scumbags. however how does it kompare to the person who re-posted the video on youtube adding fuel to the roaring flames of hate?! its all hearsay at the end of the day eh? *sigh*
